I do custom Nerf guns now, apparently. I sold my last pistol and wanted to make something just for me. So there's this: my custom Hammershot. Now I just need to see about getting a holster for it.
BTW: When I started this thing, google images returned NOTHING for Hammershot customs. Now, not so much.

No worries, all very good questions. Firstly, I did leave as many components as possible just as they came...I liked the shade of dark blue, and the dark grey of some of the components, so I bluetaped everything I wanted to keep. Mostly, I was just hell-bent on getting rid of that "Atomic Orange" the gun initially came in.
I always disassemble my guns before I paint, but I was delighted to discover that the Hammershot (and presumably other guns of this line) make this process easier by containing the entire firing mechanism in one compact set! I was able to remove the guts of the gun without having to worry about documenting which piece went where! HUGE when you're doing a simple cosmetic mod!
As for wear-n-tear, I have thought about making the gun look a bit more "weathered", but before I do, I want to have a good way to carry it, like a fitted holster. Simulated wear-n-tear is all well and good, but it kinda loses its edge when ACTUAL wear-n-tear starts chipping away at it. XD
